Multi Family Housing,

Location- Thimphu City, Bhutan

 

Proposed for a prominent developer group in in Bhutan, a block of 16 flatted houses in an up an coming area of the Capital city.

 

The design draws on the vernnacular traditions of building in the region, while responding to more contemprary needs of lifetyle in a culture that effortlessly stradles, modern and ancient ways of life in its everyday.

The ediface draws cues from large mansions that dot the countryside, the facedes getting lighter and having more fenestrations as we go upwards. 

​

The layout also accomodates the habit of taking of footwear at the door, and wearing only socks or slippers indoors, and neat division of the house into a private area and public area by simple use of an entry vestibule in the welcome area.
