Nazia and Sachin house
Status- Unbuilt, 2011
Location- Kervan Hills, Dehradun
A half acre plot, on a hillside, overlooking a stream, on the edge of a forest and looking out into a quiet valley. The site is a wooded steep slope. The gradient, the sun and wind and the view determine the shape the cottages take. As do the local building materials and skills.
Celebrating the view and calm, and rain the house steps up the hillside, in a series of terraces that look out over the valley.
The buildings in rubble masonry, each level a single floor in height supports a terrace above, and steps back as one moves from public to private spaces in succession. A series of open terraces, staircases and swimming pool make up the outdoor spaces that are split into three levels.
